Let me start out by writing that I love going to the dentist. Growing up, my brother and I would fight about who would get to go first. My teeth felt smooth and I could pick a ring from the prize box. To this day, I can still picture the beautiful ruby ring that was my favorite from the dentist. It probably helps that I’ve never had a cavity, so I have good dentist memories.
When I scheduled my dental appointment last summer, I was excited that it was going to land on January 11. My appointment was going to be at 11:00AM – I did ask if 11:11AM was an option. (I figured the answer would be no, but I had to ask anyway.) Visiting the dentist was something the oncologist said I wasn’t able to do during chemotherapy, so I was really disappointed to cancel my appointment. I explained my situation to the dental office and told them I would call to schedule an appointment as soon as I could.
My chemotherapy finished in late January, but I had a mess of side effects to deal with from hand foot syndrome. So I didn’t make it to the dentist until March. But boy were my teeth happy – no cavities and I got to bliss out in the chair. Even though the dental office has tvs above the chairs, I prefer no tv so I can bliss out in the chair for a little bit.
