Since losing my hair last year, I’ve been more into make-up and nail polish. Now that Cousin Itt has retired, I have been wearing bolder earrings when my ears tolerate earrings.

Going out for a manicure and pedicure is something I’m supposed to avoid during chemo. But I’m not a mani/pedi at the salon kinda person, going maybe one time in the summer for a pedicure since my feet are pretty ticklish.

A few years ago, a friend introduced me to gel nail polish, which lasts a good two weeks. It took a bit more application time, but I was always pleased with how long it lasted and how good it looks.

Really dark colors can sometimes interfere with the pulse oximeter, so I stuck to lighter colors like Cafe Ole or Avalanche. I stopped wearing nail polish in November last year, because my cuticles were taking a hit from chemo. In February, my fingernails started to fall out thanks to hand foot syndrome. As they’ve grown back, they’ve been a bit weak and curl up, so I’ve stayed away from my DIY manicures.

A girlfriend sent a note that she was starting to sell Color Street and could send a sample of the product. The timing was perfect, because I’d heard about Color Street and wanted to give that a try once my nails and cuticles were ready.

After watching a video, I gave it a try and was pleased with the results. It has a faint nail polish smell, which surprised me. The strip is forgiving to the horizontal ridges within my nail and doesn’t feel particular thick, like gel polish.
